The field of Travel and Food has an insatiable appetite for product, online and in print. People want to hear all about new restaurants, fresh takes on established restaurants. Yes everyone eats. And we like to know where the bargains are, where the celebrations can be found, where the tastes are special, even if we cannot afford to try them ourselves.
No matter how many thousands of years old the location, people want to read fresh encounters with new “insider” information, low-cost alternatives, and current exhibitions, and the imagination of the reader loves to receive a taste of wanderlust, and feel that this experience can be shared.
Panelists will include:
MARILYN ANDERSON is an award-winning writer for television, film, and theatre. She has written for “Murphy Brown,” “Sherman Oaks,” “Friday the 13th,” “Carol & Company,” and more. She is currently producing two feature films for which she wrote the screenplays. Marilyn wrote and co-produced the web series for her book, “Never Kiss a Frog.” Marilyn also writes a travel column, “Romance on the Road,” for several magazines. She was the Travel & Entertainment editor for “Agenda Magazine” and she writes for “Splash Magazines Worldwide.”
JERRY CAMARILLO DUNN is an award-winning travel writer. He has worked with the National Geographic Society for 27 years and written hundreds of magazine and newspaper stories, as well as guidebooks for Nat Geo and the Smithsonian. He was a staff editor/writer at “National Geographic Traveler” magazine and also edited the entire front department at “Islands” magazine.
His work has been recognized with three Lowell Thomas Awards (the “Oscars” of travel writing) from the Society of American Travel Writers.
His latest book is “My Favorite Place on Earth “(National Geographic), in which 75 remarkable people, ranging from the Dalai Lama to Natalie Portman, talk about places they love. Jerry has also taught travel writing seminars for two decades.
BARBARA HANSEN was a longtime staff writer at the LA Times, in the food section, and also wrote for the Travel Section. She just started the blog www.TableConversation.com and, in September, launched the blog EatMx.com, which deals exclusively with Mexican food on both sides of the border.
She also writes for the LA Weekly blog Squid Ink, covering happenings in and around Los Angeles.
She has written 5 cookbooks, and articles for such publications as Bon Appetit. In 2004 Barbara won a James Beard award for an article on mezcal in Oaxaca.
NANCY MILLS is a cookbook author and entertainment journalist based in Los Angeles. She has written four cookbooks with her son, Kevin Mills: “HELP! My Apartment Has a Kitchen” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 1996 – has sold more than 120,000 copies to date); “HELP! My Apartment Has a Dining Room” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 1999); “Chocolate on the Brain” (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2000), and “Faster! I’m Starving!” (Gibbs Smith, 2006). Nancy writes celebrity profiles for publications around the world, including the New York Times Syndicate, USA Today, The Guardian, Cosmopolitan, The Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and New York Daily News. She is a graduate of Cornell University.

PETER TABORR, MBA. is a marketing, sales, and strategy executive with Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer experience in advertising, the luxury boat market, and wine distribution.
